REVIEW | Fast Girls
This might be the longest Adidas advert ever.
Were the Olympics not coming to town this summer then this film would be getting daytime screenings on one of the shitter Sky Movies channels. It might sneak Film 4. It looks slick but in that cheap way, and it can be summed up by a diss in the film from the lead’s sister aimed at her choice of attire for a posh party where she claims that ‘no matter how hard you try, you always look Primark.’ Thing is, beyond that, this is an absolutely fine movie. The kind you would see when you were off sick and it would take your mind off the illness for the entirety but that would leave you returning to your ailments as soon as it ends. It has no lasting value and barely has value at all. Thing is, I am a sucker for sports movies and this has just enough charm and believability for me to enjoy it. Lenora Crichlow carries the movie well and I really enjoyed the performance of Lashana Lynch who brings the majority of the laughs.
This is very predictable but I found myself routing for it.
Verdict: Movie
